Our new Islander Minivans are built in China by a company called DFSK, who's parent company was originally founded in 1968.
They are the second largest vehicle manufacturer in China, which is still part owned by the Chinese Government.
They are a massive corporation, building many makes and models of vehicle, under various names and licences.
In 2009 over 250,000 Minivans were produced and sold. In 2010, over 300,000 were sold.
Most importantly, they build vehicles in China for the likes of Honda, Kia, Nissan, Citroen and Peugeot.
These are very big world manufacturers, who entrust DFSK to build their vehicles on licence for them in China.

Domestic market vehicles vary slightly in specification from country to country, so the familiar Japanese, Korean and
European brands named above, allow their vehicles to be built on license in China, rather than shipping vehicles out there.
The DFSK brand is already being sold in and around Europe (Germany / Croatia / Sweden) and in the USA and Austrailia.
They make a wide variety of vehicles, from normal passenger cars, all the way through to huge trucks and everything in between.
We have started to import the Minivan range the Sokon Group manufacture, to satisfy the gap in the local market since
production stopped on the Suzuki Carry / Daihatsu Extol / Atrai / Toyota Sparky range in the UK and Japan.
We contacted DFSK in early 2009, with a view to them producing a van to our exact specification for use within the
Channel Islands. We are continuing to work directly with them to bring you more models, higher specifications and more options.
